CAMFEED is a project supported by the Fondazione Cariplo and belongs to the "Integrated research on industrial biotechnologies 2015". The project involves three research groups located in Lombardy: the Institute of Agricultural Biology and Biotechnology (CNR-IBBA), Institute of Sciences of Food Production (ISPA-CNR) and the Department of Veterinary Medicine (UniMi).

The project CAMFEED aims the enrichment in omega-3 and antioxidant compounds in meat and eggs obtained from broilers and laying hens fed with the addition to the diet camelina meal obtained from lines of Camelina sativa selected for reduced glucosinolate content.

The project also aims to develop new formulations of feeds enriched in omega-3 and antioxidant due to the presence of camelina meal. This should allow us to get products (eggs and meat) with a longer shelf-life and greater availability of these valuable essential nutrients for human diet.
